Out-of-hospital ECPR favorable CPC calculator
Out-of-hospital ECPR Favorable Cerebral Performance Category (CPC) Calculator
Predicts the probability of survival to hospital discharge with a favorable CPC (CPC 1-2) after out-of-hospital cardiac arrest prior to extracorporeal cardiopulmonary resuscitation (ECPR). Requires all fields.
About this calculator
Outcome definition (CPC).
The Cerebral Performance Category (CPC) scale is a commonly used measure of neurologic outcome following
cardiac arrest. CPC ranges from 1 to 5, where CPC 1 indicates good cerebral performance, CPC 2 moderate
disability but independent function, CPC 3 severe disability, CPC 4 vegetative state, and CPC 5 death.
In this calculator, a favorable neurologic outcome is defined as survival to hospital discharge
with a CPC of 1-2.
Model development.
This calculator was developed and validated using data from adult patients supported with extracorporeal
cardiopulmonary resuscitation (ECPR). These data were derived from the Extracorporeal Life Support
Organization (ELSO) patient registry, which maintains a comprehensive registry of patients undergoing
extracorporeal life support at centers worldwide.

Intended use.
This tool is intended to support clinical discussion, risk stratification, and shared decision-making. It
is not intended to be used in isolation to determine candidacy for ECPR or decisions about
life-sustaining therapy.
